Celebrating my 50th birthday at Otoko was an amazing experience in edible artistry. We had been looking forward to checking this place out for months but you can’t just show up…Otoko sells tickets to their omakase style dinners, sometimes being booked out for weeks in advance. The intimacy of the 12 seat counter and personal attention given by all the staff is well worth the cost of admission.
I wasn’t planning on doing “food photography” at my birthday dinner but I couldn’t resist taking iPhone pictures of all the incredible dishes chef Yoshi Okai passed our way. Total sensory overload! I loved how the lighting overhead was reflected in the drops of oil in some of the dishes….
And yes…we ate the crickets in the watermelon dessert…nutty deliciousness!!!
