As much exposure as I’ve had to Eastern Indian culture, never before this day had I witnessed the festival of color Holi, a traditional welcoming of Spring, signifying the victory of good over evil, the seasons changing from dark to light. Holi is celebrated as a day of spreading happiness and love.
We were at Brushy Creek Lake Park, having my granddaughter’s birthday party, complete with a bounce house, face painting, and cupcakes.
Ours was a small celebration of close friends and family but the neighboring pavilion was having a grand time blasting Hindi hits, dancing, throwing bags of colors at each other…and in true Bella form, my granddaughter decided we needed to crash their party.
So we took our offering of bubble wand party favors and joined in the celebration. The spontaneous joy and warmth of these welcoming and wonderful people was incredible.
